About PLANB
Permakultur Lanskap Berkelanjutan Indonesia (PLANB) was founded in 2017 and is a private company that actively promotes social, economic and environmental change through sustainable land and resource management. PLANB has 18 staff with an office in Greater Jakarta, Jambi and Bogor regencies.
The PLANB has focussed on promoting sustainable land use in Indonesia. The work ranges from training farmers on better management practices, helping obtain land certificates and certifying cooperatives to broad landscape and environmental impact assessments. PLANB is working with the financial sector to develop tools and strategies to enable smallholders to get access finance. The projects PLANB supported are in both Sumatra and Kalimantan. Through its networks and local NGO partners in Kalimantan and Sumatra, PLANB is able to mobilize teams in those regions and can support on the ground activities in those areas quickly with quality.

Our Team

Hans Harmen Smit: Since 2008, Hans worked to promote and develop solutions for sustainable production/sourcing of agro-commodities in Asia South/Central America and Africa. He designed, raised funding and implemented projects focussed on:- Sustainable land use planning and green growth strategies in tropical landscapes- Training programmes for smallholders to increase productivity while reducing environmental impact- Supporting cooperatives in institutional capacity development and certification (RSPO, ISPO, ISCC)- Traceability and deforestation monitoring systems in coffee, cocoa, palm oil and rubber supply chains- Design and implement models to provide access to finance for smallholders while reducing deforestation.
Hans Smit
CFO

Mr. Tohirin has a bachelor in Enviromental Engineering and has strong background in land use planning. Tohirin is based in Jambi and working since 2013 in various sustainable development projects. He has been involved in extensive participatory mapping work for Yayaasan Setara Jambi and provincial enviromental agency since 2016. In several projects Tohirin has succesfully worked as master trainer for BMP smallholder training, involved in training over 6000 farmers on better management practices. He also has experience in facilitating RSPO Certification and certified several cooperatives working with SNV and later Plan B. For NMI -CSF he will be the lead trainer and lead the development of trainer teams, while assisting cooperatives on quality controls systems and RSPO certification.
